SCALA is stairclimbing robotic cart that lets you carry heavy and bulky things up and down stairs completely automatically — no lifting or balancing required.
SCALA uses patented technology to traverse stairs while always remaining level. SCALA is designed to lift 70kg/150lbs in total.
The ROSA concept was originally developed to help seniors and people with mobility issues overcome the hazards of carrying things while using stairs. Letting ROSA carry these things instead, the user is free to hold on to the handrails. ROSA can also help offload caregivers. Outside the home,

SCALA is a small, easy-to-use device that rolls like an ordinary platform cart. On stairs, however, SCALA is far from ordinary. SCALA does what no other platform cart in the world can do — it carries items up and down stairs, completely automatically and completely hands-free.
SCALA has applications for both industry (e.g., package delivery, moving, material handling) and do-it-yourselfers (e.g., DIY moves, decluttering, renovations).
SCALA can also be very useful for seniors wishing to age-in-place and people with mobility issues.
